We're calling it now, and you can come back to us when it's announced - Logan will most likely be nominated for a Best Adapted Screenplay at this year's Oscars.

The announcements for this year's WGA Awards were made late last night and, as it goes with the WGA, there were a couple of upsets and a couple of wildcards. The most pointed upset came from Steven Spielberg's Oscar-favourite political drama The Post, which was shut out of the nominations entirely - along with Darkest Hour, Three Billboards..., Victoria & Abdul and Missouri for ineligibility.

Meanwhile, Logan's screenplay - written by Scott Frank, James Mangold and Michael Green - bagged a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and will square off against The Disaster, Call Me By Your Name, Molly's Game and Mudbound. As we reported last year, Fox are making a serious push for Logan as an awards contender, with Patrick Stewart's performance being a serious contender for a possible Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Logan was shut out of the major categories in the Golden Globes this year, but a nomination from the WGA does it give a strong boost for other award ceremonies this year. Again, don't be in the least bit surprised if this picks up a nomination at this year's Oscars.
