Les Miserable gets standing ovation at secret screening. Must be good so!
Well that's not something you hear every day. The last time we reported on a movie's standing ovation, it was for The Dark Knight Rises, and truth be told the majority of that audience were probably mostly comic book nerds.
As the credits rolled on a secret screening of the forthcoming Les Misérables - starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried - the list goes on - The Hollywood Reporter tell us that the whole crowd stood up for a whole ten minutes to applaud the movie. Said crowd were made up of a select group of journalists and critics at the Lincoln Centre in NYC.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar buzz surrounding this movie is now rife. Sharing his excitement with the audience of journos, director Tom Hooper said: "I'm grateful that I finished it [the film]... I'm grateful to the thousands of people who have been on this journey, particularly the wonderful cast... and I'm grateful to Victor Hugo, who unfortunately can't be with us."
An adaptation of the best-selling musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Mis will hit Irish cinemas early in 2013.
Must be a good'un so.
