If you saw Lego Batman Movie in the cinemas since its release, you exposed your children to anti-family, pro-gay propaganda.

That's according to John Michael Westen, a Canadian evangelist who apparently specialises in watching cartoons and seeking out the gayness in them. According to Westen's review of Lego Batman Movie - which was found by TheMarySue.com, "the creators were so anxious to subtly indoctrinate the little ones into the gender ideology that making it humorous came as a distant second thought."

He's not the only one, either. Westen also cites another review that slams Lego Batman Movie for featuring "orphan adoption by two dads, homoerotic attraction, and penis jokes." Of course, we all know that Batman's a paragon of straightness, right? It's not as if the '60s Batman TV series is considered a touchstone of camp or that Joel Schumacher - an openly gay man - directed not one, but two previous Batman films.

Oh, you mean the comics are more straight? Gotcha. Like this panel from a Batman comic in 1954. Totally not gay at all.

It's nothing new, of course, for Lego to be attacked by right-wing nutjobs commentators. Fox News ran an entire segment on how the original Lego Movie was not only anti-business, but that its villain - Lord / President Business - looked visually similar to Mitt Romney. Just for comparison, here's Mitt Romney and here's President Business.

So yes, there's a real similarity there. Very, very similar.
