Lady Gaga was serious when she dipped her toe in the world of acting with Machete Kills, Sin City, Muppets Most Wanted and the more recent American Horror Story.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the hitmaker is in talks with Bradley Cooper to star in what will be his directorial debut, a remake of A Star is Born. Cooper will also star in the movie and for Gaga, it will be a major leading role. Interestingly, Beyonce was allegedly lined up for this role before Gaga, back in 2011, but then the arrival of Blue Ivy stalled things and the original director, Clint Eastwood, decided to walk away from the project.

This will be the third incarnation of this movie, and hopefully the best. The original, made in 1937 starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. The story centres on a man whose career is in decline who helps an aspiring actress rise to the top of the fame pool. Subsequent remakes came in 1954 and 1976 where Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand took the respective roles as the aspiring star. Will Gaga succeed in filling the shoes of Garland and Streisand? We struggle to think of a better casting option.

And if anyone was in doubt about her acting ability, or eye-rolling at the idea of yet another music star crossing over into acting because they're bored, don't forget she scooped a Golden Globe gong for her work on American Horror Story; she's for realz.
