If ever you find yourself trying to figure out whether or not someone's a decent person, here's a good bit of advice - watch how they treat people they've no reason to treat well.

It can be retail people, hospital porters, or - in this instance - a red-carpet reporter who later became an award-winning screenwriter and director. Before Kumail Nanjiani was on Silicon Valley and writing / directing The Big Sick, he worked as a red carpet reporter and had to get a few minutes with Rian Johnson as he was doing press for Looper.

As Nanjiani tells it and as we know from our own experience, working a red carpet from behind the velvet rope isn't exactly easy - and when people are downright rude, it's all the more difficult.

Take a look.
