Although it hasn't even been officially announced, it looks like Disney is gearing up for the next film after 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

According to a report in The Mirror, Keira Knightley - who played Elizabeth Swann in the first three Pirates films - has filmed a post-credits stinger for Dead Men Tell No Tales that will point towards the next instalment in the series.

It's understood that Knightley appeared in Shepperton Studios last month for a one-day shoot, and that tight security meant the set was in lockdown. Knightley had previously said that she was done with the series, saying that she "can’t really imagine going back to it."

The first teaser for Dead Men Tell No Tales debuted a couple of months ago and made no reference to Johnny Depp, instead focusing on Javier Bardem's character, the zombie-esque Captain Salazar.

Whether or not Knightley is actually returning to the series remains to be seen, but it would definitely be a smart move considering her latest film, Collateral Beauty, is on track to become the worst-reviewed film of 2016.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released in Ireland on May 26th, 2017.
