Although it's still a long way away from hitting our screens - the current release date is March 6th, 2019 - it looks like Disney and Marvel are starting to line up its talent for Captain Marvel.

Variety reports that none other than Jude Law is set to play Dr. Walter Lawson, Captain Marvel's scientist mentor who also doubles as Mar-Vell, a Kree warrior who masqueraded as a human to blend in and study mankind. The latest draft of the script, penned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, sees Brie Larson's character - Air Force pilot Capt. Carol Danvers - caught up in a bizarre accident that sees her DNA fused with Kree technology, giving her super-strength, flight and energy projection (read: laser beams).

The film is set to be helmed by indie directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who wrote and directed Half Nelson and more recently Mississippi Grind. This marks Law's second franchise announcement in as many weeks, as he was confirmed to play a young Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts sequel, The Crimes Of Grindelwald.
