Apparently, it's all a load of codswallop. As per Entertainment Weekly - "Well, when contacted by EW, a representative for Joseph Gordon-Levitt declares the report entirely false." That sucks! Although, maybe now that they think we know, they're putting us off the scent. But they don't know that we know they know we know that... ah forget it. We'll find out soon enough!
It's been a while since I penned a piece about my unyeidling love for Joseph Gordon-Levitt; that Robert Pattinson fellah's had me somewhat distracted. Anyhoo. having matured into an actor of the highest callbire, a mainstay on the Hollywood landscape, it's no stretch to envision Joe as the next Batman. Now if you haven't watched The Dark Knight Rises yet then STOP; go see it, then come back to me. Otherwise I'll spoil it for you, and if you've been lucky enough to avoid all the spoilers (and assholes who enjoy a good spoil) heretofore, I'd like to keep it that way.
Ahem... *Spoiler Alert*
So yes, there is a hint toward the end of Chris Nolan's final Batman installment that Gordon-Levitt's character - John Blake - could well return as the newly inaugurated caped crusader, marking the first time in the history of movies that the big guy's alter ego hasn't been Bruce Wayne. Whether it'll be for a stand alone franchise, we don't yet know. Whether Chris Nolan will be involved, well he seemed pretty happy to close the book when we spoke to him in July. What JGL is reportedly in talks for, however, is The Justice League - DC Comics' answer to Marvel's The Avengers. We reported this to you back in September when it was a mere rumour, but now it seems more definite.
As per HitFix - Gordon-Levitt will "absolutely will be appearing in "Justice League" as the new Batman," or so says their sources.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for something more concrete but in the mean time let's speculate. Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt the man for the job? Will he have the same intensity that Christian Bale brought to the anti-hero? Or is it time Batman lightened up a little? How Gordon-Levitt will avoid the inevitable comparisons between himself and Bale lies in the fact that he's not Bruce Wayne, he's John Blake.
