Jonah Hill never ceases to surprise us. Earlier in the year, he debuted a new blonde hairstyle for Joaquin Phoenix’s movie ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’. He got a tattoo of his sister’s name back in March. In his latest move, the ‘21 Jump Street’ and ‘Superbad’ star has turned to directing.

'Mid90s' marks Hill's directorial feature debut having previously helmed the music video for Danny Brown's ‘Ain't It Funny’and ‘Gonna Get Over You’ for the singer Sara Bareilles.

Hill is also the writer of ‘Mid90s’, having previously been a credited writer on ‘21 Jump Street’, ‘22 Jump Street’, ‘Why Him’ and ‘Sausage Party.’

The film stars Katherine Waterston (‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,’ ‘Alien Covenant’), Lucas Hedges (‘Ladybird,’ the forthcoming ‘Boy Erased’) and Sunny Suljic (‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’), and centres around a 13 year old coming of age in Los Angeles during the eponymous era. He “spends his summer navigating between a troubled home life and a group of new friends he meets at a Motor Avenue skate shop.”

It is released by A24, who were previously behind critically acclaimed indie films like ‘Hereditary,’ ‘The Disaster Artist,’ ‘The Florida Project,’ ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Ladybird.’

The film opens October 19th.
