Jon Stewart built his career on sharply skewering the politics of the day, so it's only fitting that his next effort as a director is a political comedy satire.
THR reports that Stewart is reteaming with his 'Daily Show' colleague Steve Carrell for 'Irresistible', with Brad Pitt's production shingle Plan B involved as well. Plot details are light, but it's understood that the concept behind the movie is from Jon Stewart himself, meaning he could also be scripting as well as directing.
His first movie, 'Rosewater', was a biopic of Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari's imprisonment in Tehran after reporting on the violent suppression of democracy by the Iranian government - a pretty huge departure from the stuff Stewart was primarily known for. That being said, 'Daily Show' did veer into serious topics from time to time and Stewart himself has been a passionate advocate for a number of causes over the years, so it makes sense that he do something like 'Rosewater'.
As it stands, no release date has been confirmed for the movie and given how Stewart is kicking off a standup tour with Dave Chapelle (and playing a date in Dublin), there's a good chance this movie won't be on screens any time soon.
