Injuries on set are nothing new, and can often cause significant and costly delays to productions.

Usually, directors will shift the entire production schedule around the injured actor - either by shooting all the other scenes without that actor, or rejigging the scenes they've got to shoot so that the injury isn't shown up. Not so for Jeremy Renner or what happened on his upcoming comedy, 'Tag'.

According to Jon Hamm, CGI was used to cover up the fact that Jeremy Renner broke both his arms during filming. "He wore green screen casts that were eventually painted out in the edit," explained Hamm, saying that the injury happened about three days into the shoot with about 40 days to go.

"Keep in mind this is a man who’s done a hundred ‘Avengers’ movies and been fine," Hamm laughed. "And he does a movie about playing tag... both arms, like firewood, just snapped like a matchstick." Depends on how hard you hit, Jon Hamm.

Undoubtedly, this is another slightly-odd attempt by Warner Bros. - who just so happen to be behind this comedy - to try and use CGI in unusual places. You'll recall how they were more than happy to CGI away Henry Cavill's incredible 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' moustache during production on 'Justice League', so this is just more of the same.

Will it work, or will it look as weird as it did in Justice League? He could end up looking like Popeye or something, after all.

'Tag' arrives in Irish cinemas on June 29th.
