It was thought that Jeremy Renner's character in the new Mission Impossible would take over the franchise from Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.
Renner spoke with Reuters and when asked if he'd be starring in a spin-off series he commented, I heard that. I hear lots of rumours. No, it's not true about Mission: Impossible. There's no taking over. It's not happening." Ghost Protocol is a huge hit for Tom Cruise and has now taken a stunning $250 million in just a week and a half of release. It is expected to become the biggest earner in the series so far and lead to another film - also starring Cruise and co.
Renner has new Bourne flick, The Bourne Legacy, due for release next year and a couple of other productions to keep him busy.
