Jack Reynor's career is going from strength to strength.
Following on from the critically-acclaimed Glassland, Reynor's now set his sights on a franchise film with a rising talent.
It's understood Lionsgate are putting together a gritty, darker, almost revisionist retelling of Robin Hood and have drafted Peaky Blinders' director Otto Bathurst to helm it.
Titled Robin Hood: Origins, the story will chart the fall and rise of the English nobleman-turned-folk hero as he battles the Sheriff of Nottingham and works to free the people from tyranny.
Bathurst's unique visual palette can be seen on Peaky Blinders, so it's expected Robin Hood: Origins will have a similar quirk to it.
As for Reynor, it's understood that he's already auditioned with Bathurst and is the current favourite to snag the role.
He'll have to contend with Taron Egerton of Kingsman fame and Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston, who are also in the running for the role.
It's hoped that a casting will be announced soon as production is being tipped to begin in early 2016, although many sources believe Reynor has it in the bag.
So, thoughts on Reynor being Robin Hood? Good and all as he is, he'll never beat Kevin Costner and his 'Murican accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
They'll also need a spot-on actor to play the Sheriff because that's half the fun of Robin Hood - the moustache-twirling bad guy. Remember Alan Rickman's take on the character?
