Jack Reacher won't be coming back to the cinema any time soon.
He may feature in 17 novels but it'll be a while before another Jack Reacher story is adapted for the big screen. The movie has performed well at the Box Office, but not well enough apparently.
The film opened well, taking $15 million on its opening weekend, but since then it has only managed to hit $70 million in the US. That's not quite enough money to persuade the studio to fund a sequel. Reacher's taken in about €153 million globally, but The Hollywood Reporter says that there's no way a sequel will get the green light without a global intake of at least $250 million.
There's still a chance they could hit the target; the film has yet to open on the Asian market. Tom Cruise is a pretty big star there, so who knows what might happen! But for now it seems that Jack Reacher had 'One Shot' and it landed just wide of the mark.
