What follows contains Harry Potter spoilers but tbh, if you have neither read the books nor watched the movies at this stage of your life, we can no longer protect you from the story's pivotal twists and turns.

As you will painfully remember, the character of Remus Lupin died a tragic death in The Deathly Hallows and his was one of those movie demises that stuck with us forever; we never got over it and we still feel a sting for poor Tonks every now and then.

Anyhoo, author and creator of the Harry Potter universe, JK Rowling, has come out to apologise to her devastated fans for Remus' untimely passing, admitting that it was never her original plan.

For those who take their HP really seriously (and perhaps you should check out our 'What's On' section and get out more), yesterday marked the anniversary for the Battle of Hogwarts, which now traditionally calls for a time when Rowling will apologise for yet another death, such a fan was she of killing off majorly important characters. This time it was Lupin, but she then admitted that she had not planned on killing him until she wrote The Order of the Phoenix, which, we guess, is supposed to make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

For Rowling, it was a choice between killing off either Arthur Weasley or Lupin, who, lest we forget, had a little baby boy with Tonks and would never get to see him grow up. Nice one, JK.
