Keanu Reeves is garnering some of the best reviews of his career for a role that didn't stick out as a possible critic's favourite.

He teams up with his Matrix stunt double, Chad Stahelski who makes his directorial debut on the fun looking revenge thriller, John Wick. Reeves has rarely moved into studio films over the past few years; The troubled Ronin 47 was a highly publicized box office failure, while his last blockbuster before that was the so so The Day the Earth Stood Still.

But the actor is firmly back in what The Hollywood Reporter are calling a "confident, muscular action debut" for Stahelski, while the Rotten Tomatoes rating is holding steady at 100%.

We're dying to see this. Welcome back Keanu, we'd never f**k with you or your stunt double.

The film is scheduled for release here in early 2015.
