Irish film-maker Eamon De Buitlear dies aged 83
Some sad news this morning - wildlife film-maker and former senator Eamon de Buitlear has died. The 83 year old passed away at his home in Delgany, Co Wicklow last night.
Mr De Buitlear was well known for promoting the Irish language and traditional music, and was hailed as Ireland's best known indepdendent wildlife film-maker since the 1960's. He was a talented musician and the author of several books, including his memoir, A Life In The Wild.
In November 2012, the film-maker donated his entire archive of film, music and writings to NUI Galway. Mr DeBuitlear is survived by his wife and five children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers. RIP.
