As part of the Irish Focus strand, independent Irish film Soulsmith will screen in the IFI this Saturday at 2pm.

The story follows Ed O'Brien, a playwright living in Dublin who's struggling with writers block following early career success. When his father passes away, he returns home to reconnect with old friends and his old home town.

The film was written and directed by Kevin Henry, and completely self-financed. Shooting took place in both Dublin and his native Mayo, allowing him to bring the beauty of the West of Ireland to the screen. It premiered at the 2016 Cork Film Festival to a sold out crowd and has played at festivals across Europe and the US.

If you can't make it to the IFI this Saturday, Soulsmith will be available on demand from December 8th on the film's website and available to buy on DVD from December 15th.
