Now that Charlie Hunnam has opted out of Fifty Shades of Grey due to scheduling conflicts and a fear of the hype (not to mention the likely fact that he gave the book a read for the first time since agreeing to it), we're back to the drawing board again.

We're starting to suspect that Charlie Hunnam was never even confirmed for the role at all, and that they made us think that he was, just so we'd continue to speculate and write about it, and keep the momentum going until the movie inevitably gets made with whoever is willing to take the lead as a creepy sex fetishist (yep, he's into 'things' as much as the submissive he's using said 'things' with) in this creepy, erotic story.

But who else would we like to have take us on a tour of Christian Grey's red room of pain? Rumour has it (as per The Hollywood Reporter) it's down to a small list featuring Alexander Skarsgard (who has been mentioned all along and who might make something decent of the movie) and Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan (who nailed his serial killer in The Fall).

Obviously, as dreamy and slightly scary as Skarsgard is, we're rooting for Jamie. Patriotism 'n all that. Also, he's not the worst looking, is he?

Also featured on this elusive list are Theo James, Christian Cooke and Garrett Hedlund.

Dakota Johnson is still on board to play the generally insufferable Ana Steele.
