Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart returning to X-Men? Now that's Xciting!
We sobbed a little when their epic love/hate bromance was torn apart by a slightly psychotic Jean Grey in The Last Stand but now Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan will return to cinemas as Professor X and Magneto. Eeeeek! Yep, that's right, the lads are set to make their on screen comeback in the sequel to Matthew Vaughan's X-Men First Class.
Full details of their roles in the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past have yet to be revealed, but Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to officially announce that the pair were joining the cast and said he was thrilled to be welcoming them back. So are we Bryan, so are we. We're not quite sure how they're going to work this one out without things going a little Back to the Future but we can't wait to find out. Patrick Stewart previously hinted that he might be reprising his role for the new movie at Montreal Comic-Con earlier this year. What a tease!
Singer also confirmed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence will be returning for the sequel, which is currently scheduled to hit cinemas in July 2014.
