It has become clear that there is no Disney movie that the studio won’t remake. What’s the most disappointing about The Lion King though is that the film is already so perfect – how can you make a film any better when it’s already perfect?

Let’s look at what we know.

Firstly, it’s going to be a live-action/CGI project (we're curious of where the live-action fits in? Hopefully this won't mean the addition of unnecessary human characters...). This might not be so bad. Consider the absolutely gorgeous computer-generated effects of the recent The Jungle Book remake.

And speaking of, the helmer of that remake, Jon Favreau (who also directed Iron Man) is going to direct the new film. He’s obviously a talented director and, more to the point, audiences love him, and he brings in the moola (the 2016 Jungle Book made over $900m in the box office while his films Iron Man and Iron Man 2 made $1b accumulatively – and speaking of box office figures, fun fact, The Lion King remains the highest grossing 2D animated flick of all time).

Reportedly, like other remakes such as Beauty & the Beast, out in 2017, and The Little Mermaid, which is also in the works, The Lion King remake will include songs from the animated film (The only thing is we’re going to need ALL OF THEM to be in it, because every song in the film is iconic).

Plus, The Lion King was previously successfully adapted for Broadway, where it won several awards and broke numerous records.

Maybe it won’t be so bad then? Let us know what you think in the comments.
