Irish director John Butler is working on his third feature following 2013's The Stag and 2016's Handsome Devil.

The film, which is called Papi Chuclo, has been described as a ‘black comedy’. It follows “a lonely TV weatherman who strikes up an unusual friendship with a middle-aged Latino migrant worker.” Like his other two films, it looks like this one also looks at the theme of male friendship.

Casting for the film has been secured. The Runaways actor Alejandro Patiño co-stars as the migrant worker while Golden Globe-winning actor Matt Bomer, whose credits include The Normal Heart, The Magnificent Seven, and Magic Mike, plays the lead.

U.K. sales outfit Bankside Films will launch the film to international buyers in Berlin next week. It is produced by Rob Walpole and Rebecca O'Flanagan with backing from the Irish Film Board, Head Gear Films, RTE and Windmill Lane.
