Henry Cavill has been dropped by Warner Bros. as Superman / Clark Kent.

The stunning revelation came from THR, who report that Warner Bros. is planning a major shakeup of the DC banner. The crux of the issue came for the upcoming 'Shazam!', which Cavill was supposed to cameo in as Superman. Not only that, Warner Bros. weren't exactly keen on making another solo Superman movie any time soon, and THR's source claims that "Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors."

The scheduling conflict began with 'The Witcher', a new Netflix series that Cavill had signed on to lead, and seeing as how Cavill is coming off the back of some of his best reviews for 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout', it seemed only a matter of time before his time as Superman was to come to an end.

Neither side has confirmed the news as of yet, however speculation is rife as to who will next don the red cape of Superman. We spoke to Henry Cavill earlier this year and while the topic of Superman didn't come up, he did speak about producing his own movies and his future moves in his career.
