Friends, there is no doubt in our mind that this is the single greatest piece of casting news we've reported on in quite some time.

Dame Helen Mirren, known for such films as The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover, The Long Good Friday, the Oscar-winning biopic drama The Queen and many more, is joining the cast of Fast & Furious 8. She'll star alongside Vin Diesel, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Charlize Theron in the eighth installment of the series.

Again, this is all totally legitimate and this isn't April Fool's Day and we didn't fall and bang our head off a wall. This is happening.

Although it's early days yet and there's been no confirmed announcements on her role, most everyone expects Helen Mirren to have some sort of connection to both Luke Evans and Jason Statham's characters. In the previous entry, Jason Statham played Deckard Shaw, Luke Evans' character's older brother, who sets out to seek vengeance on Vin Diesel and The Rock for putting him in a coma.

The end of Furious 7 saw Jason Statham's character promising to escape the CIA blacksite, so it's entirely possible that Furious 8 will open on Helen Mirren breaking her son - Jason Statham - out. Wow. Helen Mirren could potentially be playing the mother of Jason Statham.

Take a minute and wrap your head around that one, folks.
