According to reports, the director of such classics as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs is considering Leonardo DiCpario (who he worked with in Django Unchained), Brad Pitt (a previous collaborator from Inglorious Basterds) and Tom Cruise for the lead role.

Last weekend, it was announced that Tarantino, who had pulled his movie from TWC in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations, had following a bidding war, sold the worldwide rights for his new film to Sony Pictures.

Now more news in relation to the movie has emerged as we now have a plot synopsis courtesy of Vanity Fair:

“Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Tarantino’s upcoming movie, according to a source who read the script, focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”

Deadline reports that Tarantino wants Margot Robbie, currently enjoying accolades for her role as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, for the role of Tate. The news outlet also reports that the film is comparable to Pulp Fiction in its setting and structure, and that its budget will be in the range of Django (which was $100m).

Tarantino is reportedly looking to kick off production around June 2018 in LA for an expected 2019 release.
