If it worked for Wolverine it can work for Spidy too, right? RIGHT? Sony Pictures have just confirmed that Spider-Man spinoffs are a go.

That's quite cool, however, even though Sony boss Michael Lynton said that they are 'working closely with Marvel and Disney' don't expect the blue and red clad wall scurrier to join his Avengers friends in their universe. In keeping with their rights deal with Marvel, the characters in the spin-offs will come from the world of Spider-Man alone.

Now I'm not the hugest of Spidey fans to begin with BUT I think you might agree that the characters in the series are pretty weak. Who would want to see a whole movie centred on wimp Mary Jane? Could the Green Goblin carry a whole movie? Actually, maybe come to think of it. If they cast Michael Fassbender in the titular role.

According to The Wrap, a Sony spokesperson said, "We are going to access Marvel's full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains." So maybe there are perfectly good characters out there that I don't know about.

That's just me of course, what do you think? Let us know below.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx will hit our screens on April 18 next year. Take a look at the teaser trailer.
