As part of its twentieth anniversary celebrations the IFI will be hosting two days of totally free cinema screenings next weekend the 15th and 16th September.
The weekend is a just part of a month of celebrations to mark the occassion. The open weekend line up includes sneak previews, major classic, films from the IFI archive and a special screening of the best film chosen specifically by you.
The open weekend will give you the change to catch sneak peeks of the eagerly awaited film 'Alps' from director Giorgos Lanthimos, romantic comedy 'Liberal Arts' by Josh Radnor that has drawn comparisons to Woody Allen and Cameron Crowe and stars Elizabeth Olsen who made a big impression in recent film Martha Marcy May Marlene. Some of the classic films on show will include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Bicycle Thieves, the iconic The Dirty Dozen and Tony Scott's True Romance. Singin' In the Rain, The Godfather and When Harry Met Sally are all just some of the great movies on show over the weekend.
Saturday wil also see the special screening of the winner of the IFI Audicence Choice Poll which can be voted for here and celebrations will continue after the screening with a barbeque in the courtyard and a dj to late.
These are just some of the great screenings on over the weekend check below for a full schedule of the Open Weekend. Free tickets for each day will be available on Saturday and Sunday morning in person at the IFI from 11am. Pre-booking by telephone or online will not be available. Each person in the queue will be allocated a maximum of four tickets per day. For example, a person queuing could choose four tickets for one film in order to bring friends or choose four tickets to individual films for themselves. Free tickets are strictly first-come-first-served and are subject to availability.
