It's official: Domhnall Gleeson is one of the luckiest lads in film these days. As if working with the likes of Lena Heady (Dredd) and Rachel McAdams (About Time) wasn't enough to make anyone jealous of his on-screen endeavours (add Bill Nighy to that one too actually), it's just been announced that he's signed on to work with none other than Angelina Jolie.

As per IFTN, Gleeson will work with Jolie on her upcoming World War II biopic Unbroken which is based upon the real-life tale of Olympic track star and war hero Louis Zamperini. Jack O'Connell (of Skins fame) takes the lead in Jolie's latest offering. If you've never heard of Zamperini, here's the lowdown: He survived for 47 days on a life raft after a pretty horrific plane crash in the Pacific Ocean during World War II, only to be chucked into a Japanese Prisoner of War camp for another two years.

Our Domhnall will be playing a chap by the name of Phil, who also happened to be on that all-important life raft. Whether we're looking at a 'don't let go Jack' scenario here remains to be seen. And by that we mean just in theory, not that the lads were romantically involved.

Unbroken has been adapted for the screen from the best-selling novel of the same name by Joel and Ethan Coen, and will be directed by Ms Jolie. Here's hoping she does great things with the script.

Expect this one in cinemas in time for Christmas 2014, and catch Domhnall in action when About Time hits cinemas this Friday, September 6th.
