And in today’s super random production news…

Shooting has started in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen on gritty drama The Kitchen, based on a Vertigo comic book series from DC.

The film sees Melissa McCarthy, star of the recent Life of the Party, Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish and The Handmaid’s Tale headliner Elisabeth Moss play three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI.

According to the synopsis: “Left with little but a sharp axe to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands—proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition…literally.”

Domhnall Gleeson, we assume, is one of the Irish mafia and possibly even its leader. Also in the cast are James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Alicia Coppola, John Sharian and Myk Watford.

The movie is written and directed by Andrea Berloff, who was nominated for an Oscar for the original screenplay for Straight Outta Compton.

A New Line Cinema production, The Kitchen is currently set for release on September 20th 2019 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros.
