Since being cast as General Hux in the Star Wars reboot franchise, Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson's career is continually on the up. Not only will he play A.A. Milne in a new biopic about the writer behind Winnie the Pooh (opposite the lovely Margot Robbie, no less), he has also just been cast in a live-action/CG Peter Rabbit movie based on the books by Beatrix Potter.

In spite of this being the second English children’s author-related project for Gleeson, it would seem he has not totally abandoned his ability to be the 'bad guy' for in Peter Rabbit he will play Mr. McGregor, the villainous farmer who is constantly trying to cook the rabbits who eat his vegetables.

James Corden has been set to voice the lead role of Peter, and Bridesmaids' Rose Byrne will star in the live-action female lead role of Bea. Another Star Wars actor, Daisy Ridley, and Elizabeth Debicki have also joined the voice cast.

Rob Lieber wrote the feature, which is being produced by Will Gluck (who is also the director) and Zareh Nalbandian, with Doug Belgrad, Jason Lust and Jodi Hildebrand acting as executive producers. The adaptation will be made at Animal Logic, the Sydney-based animation and visual effects production studio behind The Lego Movie.

Gleeson also had roles in recent films The Revenant and Brooklyn. He will reprise the role of Hux in Star Wars Episode VIII so his schedule is pretty much packed.

Production on Peter Rabbit is due to commence in January 2017 and it's pencilled in to hit theatres April 2018.
