Mel Gibson has been cut from the cast of The Hangover 2, despite director Todd Phillips going as far as running his name past studio (who have a longlasting relationship with the actor) Warner Bros. and cast members.

Could this recent rant from Zach Galifianakis on The Comedy Ray Podcast have something to do with It? According to Vulture, the actor explained to the host that he had turned down numerous projects on moral grounds, then said "But a movie you're acting in, you don't have a lot of control - you just show up and vomit your lines out. I'm not the boss. I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to (listen) ... I'm not making any leeway." He's currently shooting the sequel to the film that made him a star right now, The Hangover

Personally I think the cameo was inspired; Mel Gibson in a film called The Hangover!? That's brilliant. Todd Phillips obviously saw the irony, but it seems the cast didn't care, which is fair enough all the same.
