So it's true what they say - behind every good man there's a good woman. Denzel Washington has admitted that while he, as an Academy member, gets to vote on who wins at The Oscars, it's really his wife that picks the winners, not him. So he said to Sky News.
Washington is but one of hundreds of stars who get to nominate their favourite films and actors but the two time Oscar winner is just too busy to find the time to watch the movies, so, he leaves that decision making to his wife of 28 years Pauletta.
During an interview with Sky News for which he was promoting new film Safe House, Washington said: "Actually, my wife watches all of the movies... You know, they send you the DVDs and she watches them all... So she actually does the voting, I'll be honest with you... I watch some of them, but she watches them all. She's like, 'Oh no, no, no - you don't want to put that one down.' Actually, she really liked Drive and Drive wasn't even nominated for best picture. That was her favourite."
We liked Drive too, Pauletta, and not just because of Ryan Gosling.
Washington won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as a rogue cop in Training Day in 2001 after previously being awarded Best Supporting Actor for Glory in 1989.
In Safe House, the hunky star plays a former CIA agent turned criminal, Tobin Frost, who has been on the run for more than a decade. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa, Safe House stars our own Brendan Gleeson and the beautiful Vera Farmiga.
