David Fincher has apparently told Sony, that he will only come on board to direct their Aaron Sorkin scripted Steve Jobs biopic if Christian Bale plays the tech legend.
According to The Wrap, Fincher is keen on the production that he has been discussing for some time with the studio, but is dead set on Oscar winner Bale as the man in the turtle neck sweater.
Bale has had another phenomenal year; he was Oscar nominated again for American Hustle and was out of the park superb in the underrated Out of the Furnace. He’s just wrapped the Ridley Scott epic, Exodus, and was reportedly taking a break for a while. It’s not known if he’s been approached yet.
Fincher has the Ben Affleck starring book adaptation, Gone Girl, coming later in the year.
