Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg jet into Dublin for 'Lincoln' Premiere. Party time!
It my be a dark dreary Friday but don't despair; Daniel Day-Lewis, Steven Spielberg and Sally Field will be battling with brollies in Dublin this weekend too. The gang are in town for the European premiere of Lincoln and we hear there's going to be quite the party.
Day-Lewis was inspired to hold the film's European premiere in our fair city in memory of his late mammy, who passed away in a hospice like facility in the UK after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The Wicklow based actor is a patron of his local Hospice Foundation and has dedicated the red carpet premiere - which is the ONLY one happening in Europe might we add - to the organisation. Fair dues.
It all kicks off with the star studded screening of Lincoln at The Savoy Cinema on O'Connell Street before the party heads off to The Burlington Hotel for quite the gala. There'll be an auction on the night featuring items from the set of Spielberg's historical biopic, including signed scripts and a pair of gloves Daniel wore while playing the US President. Wonder if he'll throw in the Golden Globe too? Not like he hasn't got a few of 'em knockin about eh?
Some of the lucky lads and lasses on the guest list include Katie Taylor, Shane McGowan and Chris DeBurgh. And of course it wouldn't be a Dublin party without rumours that Bono and The Edge will show up.
Check back on Monday for all the latest snaps of the stars - we'll have them for you bright and early!
