Crucial Hunger Games Sequel Role Is Cast

JEnaMalone

After a series of speculative stories (yes, I posted one of them, what of it?) a crucial role in the remaining two Hunger Games sequels, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay, has officially been cast.

The Hollywood Reporter says Jena Malone, of Donnie Darko and Sucker Punch fame, has landed the coveted role of Johanna Mason, an "intimidating tribute from District 7 who helps Katniss Everdeen upon her return to the Hunger Games arena." Malone was rumoured for the part, alongside reported star Zoe Aggeliki, with Mia Wasikowska apparently the first choice (she turned it down because of scheduling conflicts).

The film is yet to move into production, with slick-as-shit blockbuster helmer, Francis Lawrence calling the shots. The role of Finnick is still to be cast. I haven't read the books, but colleague Caroline Foran says "he's supposed to be a big ride." Indeed.
