Our very own Colin Farrell is to be honoured at a special Irish pre-Oscars bash next month.

There'll be a bit of a gathering to celebrate the Seven Psychopaths star at the 8th annual Oscar Wilde: Honouring the Irish in Film Party at Lost producer J.J Abrams' Bad Robot Productions in Santa Monica on February 21st. A few honourees will be celebrated at the event which has previously given a great big pat on the back to stars like Michelle Williams, Melissa McCarthy, Sarah Bolger, Saoirse Ronan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Originally created by the non-profit US-Ireland Alliance, the event recognises the contributions of the Irish in film and television. And sure we didn't even realise we could claim Michelle and Melissa as our own!

Colin won't be the only Irish attendee though because Dublin based folk duo Heathers (who are playing at The erics alongside the likes of Delorentos next Wednesday, don'cha know - cast your votes here and get your tickets here) are due to perform at the red-carpet event too!
