Despite earlier reports that Christoph Waltz was ready to step back in as Blofeld / Oberhauser / whatever for Bond 25, it now appears that this is no longer the case.

In a red carpet interview with Italian outlet Talky Movies, Waltz confirmed that he isn't returning for the next Bond film and was pretty emphatic about it. "I'm sorry. I'm really sad, but that's the tradition, that there is a new… name. I would have liked to," said Waltz. It's hard to determine exactly what the reason is for Waltz's departure, however this marks the first on-the-record statement about Bond 25 since the official confirmation a few months ago.

Although Spectre wasn't to everyone's liking, Waltz's performance in it was well received by both critics and audiences alike. Moreover, previous reports suggested that Waltz would only return if Daniel Craig were to do the same - which he is. The next question, naturally, is who actually will play the villain in Bond 25?
