Bryan Singer is gearing up to start shooting X-Men: Apocalypse and the rumour mill is full motion.

Already, Tom Hardy's name has been mentioned as a possible choice to play Apocalypse, but now it looks like a younger version of Famke Janssen's character, Jean Grey, is being considered.

Chloe Grace Moretz, who starred in the criminally underrated remake of Let The Right One In, is being looked at as a possible contender.

Likewise, Elle Fanning is in the mix to play a younger version of Famke Janssen.

Another name being considered is True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld, who also turned up in last year's not-that-bad Ender's Game with Harrison Ford.

Story-wise, we're not sure how a young Jean Grey fits in, but it made sense (sort of) in Days of Future Past so we're hopeful this'll make sense.

Meanwhile, it's looking likely that Channing Tatum will crop up for a scene or two in Apocalypse as he's officially signed on to play Gambit.

Singer has stated that he wants both Nightcrawler and Gambit to make an appearance in the film, although what form that may take is anyone's guess.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit cinemas May 18th, 2016.
