As has become customary with the Oscars, the previous winner of Best Actor presents the following year's award to the Best Actress, however, that will not be the case this year as it's emerged that Casey Affleck will not be presenting following his win for Manchester By the Sea in 2017.

Affleck has had controversy surrounding him for some time with past allegations of sexual misconduct resurfacing last spring. At the moment, given all that has developed with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, there is even more of an interest in the out-of-court settlements and non-disclosure agreements reached following allegations of inappropriate behaviour by him on the set of his 2010 film 'I'm Still Here'.

Casey has always denied the allegations and told the Boston Globe last year, "I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else."

His withdrawal has been confirmed by Oscar organisers the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The 90th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 4th from Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
