Meanwhile, Emilio Estevez and Jean-Claude Van Damme were the most profitable actors - so, really, who wins here?

A new survey conducted by PartyCasino analysed the box office figures from 1980 to 2017 and subtracted them from the reported budget of the film to give each actor a score based on how much they brought. The study found that for every $1 spent on Emilio Estevez and Jean-Claude Van Damme, they brought in $6.70 and $4.20 respectively.

On the other hand, Johnny Depp only made studios a measly 20 cents per $1 spent whilst Robert DeNiro and Hugh Jackman made a measly 24 and 25 cents respectively. The worst, however, was Brad Pitt - who, according to survey, brought in just 10 cents on the dollar. The data was, however, pulled from US and Canadian box office figures and didn't combine international box offices - which would more than likely skew the figures in a different direction.

Brad Pitt, however, has starred in some woefully unprofitable films in the past ten years. The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford made just $15,001,776 globally against a production budget of $30 million - and that's not even counting the promotional budget on top of it. Johnny Depp fared slightly better. 2016's Alice Through The Looking Glass cost Disney $170 million of a production budget but only scraped together $299,457,024 worldwide.

Whether or not the trend is set to continue for Depp, Pitt and DeNiro remains to be seen, but one thing's for certain - Emilio Estevez and Jean-Claude Van Damme being the most profitable actors in the world is exactly the kind of crazy shit you'd expect in this day and age.
