They may have cancelled Independence Day 3D but the jury's still out when it comes to a sequel to the 1996 Box Office hit and now Bill Pullman's giving his own updates on the saga.

President Whitmore says he's still on board for a second film, even if his TV career takes off in the meantime (He's playing the US President in new comedy 160 Penn - typecast or wha?). Pullman told Crave Online that he's still not sure what the story is with Will Smith, but he could do the film without him.

"The Will Smith part of it may be ongoing but I think there's strategies for both. I like what I have to do in both of them. I'm not in an old age home in a wheelchair being wheeled out for one more moment. It's a very interesting conception of what happens to Whitmore between then and when it picks back up."

Will has said he'd be interested in doing a sequel, but he's rather busy at the moment so it's all up in the air. We're not sure how the movie would work without him so we'll just have to sit tight and see what happens.
