As we all know, the Beauty and the Beast live-action remake proved itself a huge hit with audiences when it was released earlier this year (in fact, it remains the top-grossing movie in the Irish box office of 2017 so far).

The movie features a stellar cast including the likes of Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Luke Evans and Emma Thompson – and Beyonce was almost among the cast members.

The pop legend was up for the role of Plummette, the maid turned feather duster who is Lumiere’s girlfriend. The part ended up going to Gugu Mbatha-Raw, an actress who is best-known for her titular role (in one of those weird coincidences) in the 2013 period drama Belle.

The director of Beauty and the Beast, Bill Condon, told Yahoo that Beyonce turned the role as she thought “it wasn’t a big enough part.” Condon, who had previously directed Beyonce in the hit musical Dreamgirls, said: “She would have been a good feather duster.”

Mind you, the Queen B may not be done with Disney live-action movies just yet as rumours continue to circulate that she’s up for the role of Nala in the upcoming Lion King remake…
