According to The Hollywood Reporter the Rogue One actor is in talks to face off against Brie Larson who has already been cast in the title role.
Mendelsohn’s exact character has not been revealed but it is likely he would play the movies main antagonist and possibly leader of The Skrulls. Producer Kevin Feige has already hinted that the aliens will feature in the movie.
Larson is playing the role of Air Force pilot Carol Danvers who acquires super powers when her DNA becomes fused with that of an alien after an accident.
Samuel L. Jackson rounds out the leading cast as Nick Fury.
Captain Marvel, which is Marvel Studios' first female-fronted stand-alone, will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who previously worked with Mendelsohn on 2015’s Mississippi Grind. Tomb Raider writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet has penned the most recent script.
It’s not expected in cinemas until March 2019.
