As Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice edges closer to our cinema screens, it's now also been confirmed that Bat-fleck will be making an appearance in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie alongside Jared Leto, Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

The character of Batman is going to play a key part in Zack Snyder's DC Universe - he'd have to, he's the goddamn Batman. However, there's been little in the way of a standalone Batman movie.

Until now.

There's been rumours circulating for quite some time that Ben Affleck is being wooed to direct a standalone Batman movie.

There's been no official confirmation on any of this, especially considering Wonder Woman only a few weeks ago replaced its director.

The film - which will be called The Batman - will be written by Dawn of Justice scribe Chris Terrio and is scheduled for a November 2018 release.

So, thoughts? We think it's a slam-dunk, frankly. Affleck's The Town was a cracking crime thriller to rival the likes of Heat, so we know he's more than capable of directing an action sequence.

He hasn't done a tentpole-budget film to date, so obviously The Batman would be a challenge for him - especially when you consider that he's going to be starring AND directing.

It makes sense, mind, as Affleck must have worked a directing gig into his contract at some point - either directing a Batman movie or something else.

What do you think? Is Affleck a good choice to direct the next Batman movie?
