Battleship Bombs At US Box Office
Battleship is the second bomb in Taylor Kitsch's career, in almost as many months.
The budget for the Peter Berg directed action movie is estimated to be somewhere between $207 and $250 million and it took an estimated $26 million in its opening 3 days at the domestic box-office - even less than the movie that momentarily crippled Disney, John Carter. It has grossed over $200 million globally, but funding studio Universal will still be losing cash after marketing costs etc are covered. At the other end of the money spectrum is Marvel's Avengers Assemble, which sailed past the $1 billion mark, and is now the fourth biggest film of all time.
Kitsch has now officially had his shot at superstardom. He still has the Oliver Stone helmed Savages to come later in the year, but don’t expect to see him headlining a blockbuster anytime soon.
