It's no secret that we're big fans of Argo so we're super psyched to hear director Ben Affleck's been named a Modern Master.

The multi-talented actor, director, producer and writer will be honoured with a career tribute at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and get his award at a special ceremony on January 26th. The Festival's President Roger Durling praised Affleck for branching out into directing after so many years in front of the camera.

"Affleck has come into his own as a multi-dimensional artist with Argo. He embodies what the Modern Master Award is all about, and we're thrilled to honour him this year," Durling commented in an official statement. The actor joins a list of Modern Masters than includes Diane Keaton, Sean Penn, James Cameron and Jeff Bridges. But he won't be the only one celebrating: Robert De Niro picks up a Kirk Douglas Award for career achievement from the festival's organisers next month!

Time to forget about those Reindeer Games Ben. You're playing with the big boys now!
