Sony Pictures are determined to make the most of the Spidey universe following the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming earlier this year.

In case you’re not up-to-date with the latest, their first planned spin-off is Venom starring Tom Hardy as the lead which last time we checked in seemed to be moving along nicely.

The studio is also working on Silver And Black, which focusses on Black Cat and Silver Sable with a release date in 2019, and now they’ve added another spin-off movie.

The latest flick will focus on anti-hero Morbius the Living Vampire, who initially appeared as an antagonist in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ #101 but then later got his own series in which he became a more heroic and tragically flawed character.

His alter ego is Dr Michael Morbius, a scientist who tries to cure his rare blood disease but instead gets fangs, super-strength, and a thirst for blood.

Writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who were behind the recent Power Rangers movie as well as Dracula Untold, Gods of Egypt and Vin Diesel’s The Last Witch Hunter, will be penning the script. They are currently showrunners on Netflix’s Lost in Space reboot which is due to debut next year. No other cast or crew details or indications for the plot have been confirmed just yet.
