And the most overrated movie of 2012 was...

the avengers

Considering how widely liked this movie seemed to be, it's surprising to learn that The Avengers has since been dubbed the most overrated flick of 2012. In a survey conducted by the LA Times, Joss Whedon's interpretation of Marvel's story didn't win this title by a margin, it ran away with it. Well at least Whedon himself won't be too shocked considering his comments on the movie's standard - 'I don't even think it's a great movie.'

Anyhoo, The Avengers won by 85% of the votes, beating Prometheus which scored less than 5%, Ted, Brave and one movie we're actually delighted to see listed - Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master; it really wasn't great. Last year R-Patz and K-Stew's combined efforts in The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 earned itself this less than coveted title, which isn't much of a shocker. But The Avengers? Really? We LOVED it!

Ryan Gosling, most overrated actor of 2012 ... is what I would say if I was deliberately writing an article trying to wind people up and fishing for click throughs. Bad form, writing on the internet should include a link to the original story. Credit where it si due. Here let me google that for you: 'The Avengers' voted most overrated movie of 2012 by a landslide http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-avengers-overrated-movie-2012-poll-20130102,0,7295260.story Maybe most people expected more from Avengers but it exceeded my modest expectations. The nature of Marvel team-ups mean a lot of people fighting head to head and then eventually overcoming their differences to unite against a common enemy. If anything I'm surprised they were actually able to bring a little depth to what is a very thin premise. Now Prometheus, there was an underwhelming film.
