Amy Adams could be taking on the wild woman of rock in 2016.

Adams, who is set to reprise her role as Lois Lane in 2015 with Batman V Superman, could be playing Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, the director behind last year's spectacular Dallas Buyer's Club. Not only that, the screenwriters behind the the Oscar-winning drama will be working on the script as well.

Janis Joplin's short career has been the subject of countless books, however a film has been more difficult in getting made. The Butler's Lee Daniels was initially lined up, followed by Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke and some others. At one point, Reese Witherspoon was a contender for the role.

Adams, though she may not have much similarity with Joplin, has a decent set of pipes on her. Adams recently turned up at a karaoke night in LA and sang a tune from the Wicked musical, not to mention doing all her own singing in Enchanted.

Joplin's story is intriguing, to say the least. For example, did you know Janis Joplin knocked Jim Morrison out cold with a bottle of Southern Comfort? Not only that, Joplin actually drank so much Southern Comfort that they gave her a lynx fur coat.
