Legendary screenwriter Dan O'Bannon has died aged 63. O'Bannon is widely recognised as one of the masters of the Sci-Fi and Horror genres, whose body of work includes various roles on the likes of Dark Star, Star Wars and Total Recall, but it is perhaps Ridley Scott's Alien that his name is most synonymous with . While numerous scribes worked on the actual script, it was O'Bannon's Star Beast screenplay which provided the inspiration for the claustrophobic extra-terrestrial masterpiece. O'Bannon is survived by his wife Diane and son Adam.
